Yesterday for Christmas I went to the movies.......there are 16 theaters and everything else was closed. The parking lot was full of folks spending their holiday at the movies......I saw Unbroken.....Louis Zapperini was from Torrance, California and the audience cheered at the end of the movie. There are two connections with Columbus, Ohio, too. He ran in the same Olympics as Ohio States Jesse Owens, and they floated on a raft lost in the ocean longer than Eddy Richenbacher, the Columbus aviator. The movie covers what he endured the first part of his life. Another movie could be made of what happened after he returned. The man lived to age 97 and died just before the movie premiered.
