Yesterday, just before the Chery Fest Parade, GCFD#1 was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Little Freezeout Road. The caller, excited and full of adrenaline mistakenly gave an incorrect location. The fire was actually on Dewey Road. This resulted in a delay in fire units arriving. When fire units did arrive, they found a small barn/shed fully involved in fire. Flames were quickly extinguished. However, the bulding was a complete loss. Units cleared the scene in about an hour. This is a good example of how important it is in ny emergency to take a deep breath and calmly take to the dispatcher so they can transmit good information to fire or EMS units coming to your aid.
