Yesterday, one of my coworkers wished me a good turkey day. I - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, one of my coworkers wished me a good turkey day. I knew what she meant, of course, but at the same time, any time someone says that to me, it makes me wonder if they really do understand what Thanksgiving Day is supposed to be all about. We would all do well to borrow a custom from our Jewish friends, for ALL of our holidays. When they celebrate Passover, a member of the family asks the question, Why do we celebrate? So why DO we celebrate Thanksgiving Day? Is there more to it than just taking a day off from work, getting together with relatives and friends to watch football games and eat turkey, and maybe getting a head start on those Black Friday sales? I now link to the redoubtable Rush Limbaugh, who explains the true meaning of Thanksgiving far more eloquently than I ever could: rushlimbaugh/daily/2014/11/26/the_true_story_of_thanksgiving_from_rush_s_second_book_which_led_to_the_rush_revere_adventure_series Happy Thanksgiving, Facebook friends.
