Yesterday, over 1100 persons participated in the clinics held in Uva Paranagama and Welimada. The initiative is funded by the German Embassy, and is carried out by the Center for Human Rights and Research (CHR), sister organization of the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections, in partnership with the Department for Registration of Persons. CHR aims to conduct 16 clinics to help 4400 estate workers of Indian origin obtain documents such as birth certificates and National Identification Cards.
