Yesterday seemed to go without a hitch until a few mishaps later - TopicsExpress

Yesterday seemed to go without a hitch until a few mishaps later in the night which had us in fits of laughter, it was good to laugh again and really mean it. Prestons dad was trying to burn the bumper a little earlier than we said we were going to do it but something made me tell him to wait, so he did and when we did go outside at 10.03pm (time preston was born) we looked up and saw a blue lantern flying over our house which made us all smile. upon setting fire to the bumper we were all snapping away on our phones, when looking back through the photos we found numerous faces in the flames (one of those photos has been posted) I have one photo where it looks like a reindeer is coming out of the fire so fitting as xmas is fastly approaching and another with half a face. We succeeded in our wish to smile for prestons birthday and we did, no tears just happy faces and im sure preston was with us thinking theres the mummy and daddy i know. The cake is beautiful we havent cut it yet because we dont want to ruin it but we would like to thank prestons dads uncle for making it for preston, he would have loved it and were sure he would have been staring at it dribbling and heavy breathing as he did when he saw all his favourite foods or something that excited him, he loved mickey mouse as you can see when a photo we posted yesterday, he couldnt get any closer to the tv if he tried and it was very fitting. We made far too much food thinking it wouldnt be enough so i think well be eating party sausages, sausage rolls, pork pies and scotch eggs for a good week. We honoured our baby boy perfectly yesterday. If i had a choice to make the pain go away and never see him again or have him back for his birthday just to see his face, hear his laugh, hold him and show him how much i love him one last time and the cost to have this pain intensified a thousand times more i would without a doubt have him back for his birthday. Thats how much i love him, i would sacrifice myself for him in a second. We hope more than anything he had a wonderful birthday in heaven/mickey mouse clubhouse/neverland. Knowing preston he would be causing so much mayhem where he is, he always found a way of being a monkey while he was here. He was a very headstrong little boy and if he wanted something he was always determined to get it. If i was searching something online he would stop what he was doing and come straight for the laptop trying to reach the wire, sometimes when he would eat he would choke because sometimes he wouldnt chew but we were always there to move what he had set his sights on or pat his back when he had forgot to chew but the one thing he set his sights on that was supposed to keep him safe really didnt and that was the one time where we werent there to get him out of it. The point is as parents we move things and pat our childrens backs when they get food lodged in their throats to keep them safe but what if its something thats labelled safe, in the day you have eyes in the back of your head but while your sleeping at night thinking your children are safe in their cots when really if your cots cluttered and your have a bumper their really not. Take 2 seconds where your child sleeps and think i put this teddy in my babies cot because i think they would like it but do they really understand? is there the smallest chance its a suffocation risk? do i really need this bumper at the top of the cot when my baby sleeps at the foot of the cot? is there a clear path of oxygen in my babies room? Safe cot advice is if your cot is cluttered theres a risk and open your babies door to create and oxygen path, if anything you will know your child has a constant flow of fresh oxygen, you will hear them clearer if they wake and bin those bumpers. xx
