Yesterday, some of my musician friends put to rest another one of Fresnos local musicians, bass player, Mr. Henry Sandoval, and today many of them came together to show their respect for him. I came to know him as Hank and then I was told that he had a couple of nicknames, Hank TOO TALL Sandoval and Handbone! I thank my musician friends, Jose Rodriguez and Pat Ortiz for introducing me to Hank. I didnt know him well, but these guys shared some really cool stories of their musical escapades together, and Hank helped out the Force Em band on two gigs this year. I am glad that I had the opportunity to finally meet Handbone, as well as play a couple of gigs with him. Although I knew Hank only for a short while and I did not know his family, I do send my thoughts, prayers and respects to all that have been affected by his passing. Music has a way of bringing many people together. I truly believe that Handbone and all those wonderful musicians that have left us continue to live on in every note that we play because they were each influential in some way...
