Yesterday was the first official sighting of an American robin, - TopicsExpress

Yesterday was the first official sighting of an American robin, Turdus migratorius, on the Balconeh. Funnily enough, he was found splashing away quite happily in a bucket of rainwater, right next to the fountain the sparrows, finches, and hummingbirds love so much. To each their own! This brings the total bird species tally to double digits :D (in order of when they showed up): House finches, Carpodacus mexicanus Annas hummingbirds, Calypte anna Rufous hummingbirds, Selasphorus rufus Black-capped chickadees, Poecile atricapillus Dark-eyed juncos, Junco hyemalis White-crowned sparrows, Zonotrichia leucophrys Townsends warblers, Dendroica townsendi ...all use the Balconeh daily, for food water and shelter, in season--the finches and chickadees in whole flocks(!), so adorable. Occasional visitors include: Purple finches, Carpodacus purpureus One pair of crows that nests on the building across the alley And now, the robin! I am hoping he, too, becomes a regular visitor, maybe even brings a girlfriend. :) I havent gotten many good photos--or Id be sharing them ;-) but more info on these species and more can be found ehre:
