Yesterday was the first time in my career I received a tip. Usually a corporate customer that pays monthly for IT on a service contract doesnt tip, especially in the computer business world where tipping is uncommon. As they switched to a new internet service provider, they also got rid of the associated router. Now two things which are not covered under our service stopped working, their remote camera viewing, and their seamless web order integration. I felt bad for them knowing theyll never figure it out, so I took a few minutes to play with both and got them working better than before. The tip wasnt going to make me rich, but it enriched my experience in that there are still some people out there who appreciate the head-breaking work we ITs go through daily.
