Yesterday we laid my (Great) Grandma Pockets to rest. After she passed my family found a newspaper clipping in her wallet that had obviously been there for many years. It read, Live your life so that your minister doesnt have to lie at your funeral. She lived up to that saying doing so many great things during her life and always remembering to be grateful, even when it was hard for her to remember much of anything. Although there was much sadness, I found her funeral to also bring me a bit of peace. For the first time in a long time, I saw the Grandma Pockets that I remembered from my childhood, and not the grandmother who was sick and frail for so many years. Even though goodbyes are difficult, I will cherish the memories and be grateful that I had the opportunity to know such a kind and loving person. Not many people get the chance to know there great grandparents, and even fewer get to know them for as long as I have. Im truly fortunate.
