Yesterday we released a new song entitled “Yours to Create”, along with a music video to go with it. You literally have no idea how much this song means to me, so I’ll try to explain in a post that you may or may not care about :). For those of you that know our music, you know we released our EP called Feels Like Summer in May of last year. We recorded those songs in March, and we recorded Yours to Create at the same time. We decided not to put it on the album because it didn’t fit the vibe and because we didn’t want to take away from the song, we wanted it to be released on it’s own. This song is every story I’ve ever heard. It’s everything I’ve wanted to say to those people telling their stories but couldn’t quite put into words. It’s basically our way of showing you what we see in those people that have come to us. We see potential for happiness and love and kindness towards yourself and others. We see beautiful people that just don’t believe they’re beautiful. It’s honestly so sad. This is us telling them that they have everlasting potential to be happy. For our music video we decided to ask people to send in their life story, all the ups and downs, so we could incorporate them in our video. We ended up getting hundreds of emails and we couldn’t think of a way to include all of them in a 5 minute song. Every story was different. But after reading through every single email, we tried to find lines throughout them that best represented the vast majority of the people sending their stories. We used those lines in our video. The best part is that some of them started so tragically and ended on such a positive note. What better way to show people that things can get better than to actually give them the words of a person who’s been through it themselves? Anyway, this song really means a lot to us. It feels really good to finally let you guys hear it. And the feedback has been great so far. Thank you. And in the cheesiest way possible but still meaningful, remember the life you want is yours to create.
