Yesterday we visited the island of Bohol which was badly shaken by a huge earthquake on Oct 15th. Cracks in the streets, collapsed buildings and limited drinking water in many areas. You can Google Bohol and see how big it is. Look up the chocolate mountains, they are very interesting land features. One of them was split in half near a bible college during the quake. It was a pretty awesome site. Today Im traveling to a local landfill site where children are drinking swill/trash water out of old tires. The national director is still here and Ill be with him at the dump site. One of the men on the team is trying to find a place to set up a water filtration system, were going to see if it will work there. The other guys on our team are going into town to shop for tomorrows grocery run up north with the area director. It was so nice to talk to my family this am, things are speeding up around here, thanks to your prayers and because of the 14 hours difference Im not able to speak with them each day. Still very grateful to be here, I thought wed be out in the mess the whole time but am thankful to have been exposed to so many other needs here while in country. I know that today will be emotional because Ill see kids in desperate straights and unable to do anything but plan. But planning is needed before movement so well plan and another team can make it happen. This is like many other 3rd world countries where you could come, spend a bazillion dollars and barely make a dent. But those things need to be done because were a blessed nation and have the capacity to help. Ill report when able but were moving to Iloilo on Panay Island on Sat so well see. Blessings to all and to my Midwest friends, bundle up. Youre freezing and Im sweating, technology is great isnt it?
