Yesterday we walked 81.5 miles to Williamstown, MA. The hometown of Matthew Perry. Yes I know. We passed through Some gorgeous national forests along the way. We stopped in Troy NY for supper. Troy was voted one of the top 5 most american towns in the USA several years in a row. It has a rich history of architecture and war. It is the birthplace of THE Uncle Sam. I was very impressed with all the buildings there they were like art, but no one els seemed interested in the war and steele roots of the town so I skipped asking to take a guided tour. On our way to find a restaurant we saw the Statue of Uncle Sam in the center of downtown. Maddison Rafferty was laughing with my mother about when they saw the Molly Malone statue in Ireland and poppa Ted just burst out into song and drew a crowd. Mary Liz Carroll said, oh yeah, Ill show the bomb, ill be the bomb. With that she headed straight for uncle sam in a super dramatic dance/walk as she sang the opening lines to God Bless The USA. We of course thought this was hysterical so Angela McMillan and I started doin the Romie and Michelle time after time dance at the foot of the statue. Still singing, and ill gladly stand up next to you.... Mary Liz one upped us by proceeding to climb uncle sam and sat perched on his shoulders. Still Dancing, BaBs Barbara Ann and Katherine Mary Costello started to blow bubbles at me and angela for a real dramatic magical effect. Margaret Twin Mcdonald and Bernadette Mcdonald both stood on uncle same sides and joined Mary liz in song. Ann Johnston ran over to one on the store fronts and grabbed a full size american flag that was mounted to the door and javelled it up to Mary Liz who waved it form side to side as she rang out the final notes of the last chorus, GOOOOD BLLLEEESS TTHHHHEEE UUU SSSSSS AAAAAA!!! I was so busy interpretive dancing and laughing I didnt notice a crowd gathered and just about jumped out of my skin when they started the applause. 100 ppl stood cheering us. They thought it was an act. I also did not notice mom staining adjacent to us holding a top hat (were she got a top hat from, i have no clue) and she was collecting the money the ppl were tossing at her for our show. Dinner is on us guys. We finished eating, Mary Liz and the McDonald power twins posed for a few picture with some of their new fans and then we headed to Williamstown. We found a pretty decent HO JO to stay in for the night. Getting super close to the water now. Cant wait!
