Yesterday, while out on patrol, I went through one of our plazas. As I did, I observed this truck parked in a handicap space without a handicap placard. So, being one of my pet peeves, I activated my over head lights and began running the tag. All of a sudden this woman comes running out of the hair salon, waiving her hands in the air and yelling thats my car officer, thats my car I proceeded to ask if she was the registered owner of the vehicle and if so where was her handicap placard? The woman provided me her DL, registration, which confirmed she was the owner. The woman then pulled a handicap placard out of her purse and handed it to me(SMH). I then confirmed the handicap placard was assigned to her. Afterwards, I asked what was her handicap, which she began to smile and stated I have a bad back. I replied you could have fooled me by how fast you ran out of the hair salon. I guess the great State of Florida hands out handicap placards to anyone!
