Yet another film festival is coming up-and this one is to particularly give a boost to the country, in these politically rough times-! Its called the THAILAND INTERNATIONAL FILM DESTINATION FESTIVAL, which will feature international films shot in the country . The DATES are 22-28 APRIL. Among them, will be debut films Trafficker, by Larry Smith, cinematographer of many Stanley Kubrick films, Secret Sharer by Peter Fudakowski, producer of the Oscar-nominee Tsotsi , and various others. A special movie is the Indian film Bhaag Milka Bhaag, based on the awe-inspiring story of Indias best known Olympic-runner Milka Singh,which has won numerous awards. There would also be a Short Film Competition,when more than 100 film-makers will fly to Thailand,to make a short film on the country,during the festival. At a press-meet yday, the top brass of the organising Ministry of Tourism,donned James Bond-like coats and hats to launch the festival (first pic),and Permanent Secretary Dr Suwat Sidthilaw stated that politics would not spoil culture or tourism,in the country. Among the Thai stars present, were actor Jirayudh (2 pic), Saipan ( 3 pic),Panvad ( 4 pic). Program Director Paul Spurrier (5 pic) was happy that the Festival was being held for the second year (last year,it was held in the beach-town of Huahin).
