Yo, people. May as well join the bandwagon, yeah? My name is Lucas Lyons, and Im an 18-year-old student attending Western Technical Commercial School in the gifted program. Ive lived in Toronto for most of my life, despite having been born in Milton, Ontario. Ill be attending St. Mikes for humanities (maybe, I may go to Queens). One day, I hope to become a pilot. In fact, Ive gone through the RMC (Royal Military College) selection process and am currently waiting to hear back from them! Im an Air Cadet with 142 Mimico Squadron, and this summer I potentially have the opportunity to earn my glider pilot wings (Ill be able to fly before I can drive- hell yeah!) I love sports, and I hope I can play on a team with some of you. I play rugby (I know, Im not huge, but that doesnt stop me!), hockey, and I do cross country as well. Probably my biggest sport is ultimate frisbee, which Im captain of this year for my schools team! In terms of interests, my biggest one is aviation. I could geek out for military aircraft for literally hours. I could name you most military aircraft flown between WWII and now. Im a fan of military history in general, although WWII is my main area of expertise. I also enjoy following the news and reading up on world events. Musically, I listen to a lot of artists spanning many genres, but Ill try and name as many as I can in no particular order: Arcade Fire, Beirut, Gorillaz, The Shins, The Strokes, Metronomy, Little Dragon, A.M. Architect, Boards of Canada, Run DMC, Led Zeppelin, Frank Ocean, Biggie Smalls, Justice, RHCP, Mumford and Sons, The Velvet Underground, Of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Stranglers, Wilco, Phoenix, Los Campesinos!, LCD Soundsystem, The Clash, Cake, Atoms for Peace, Alt-J, Daft Punk, Bino (duh), Kanye, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Beastie Boys, The Smiths, Vampire Weekend, and many others that Im forgetting, Im sure. Special mention goes out to Radiohead, who are my favourite band of all time. Bands that Ive seen live are RHCP, Mumford and Sons, and Pearl Jam. Unfortunately, I also had tickets to Radiohead but the show was cancelled. It was a huge Let Down (Radiohead fans will get the joke). Im also a fan of classical music as well as plenty of older 30s-70s stuff as well, ranging from Frank Sinatra to Glen Miller. I play clarinet! Hopefully Ill have an opportunity to play in an orchestra of some kind with some of you lovely fellows. My favourite composers are Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Brahms, and Philip Glass.
