Yoshee seems to be settling in here pretty nicely. Today he was throwing mouthfuls of seeds and pellets all over the place, the little stinker...lol His former owner let me know yesterday that Yoshee is a mutilator, but I have not even seen him pluck yet, so hopefully he wont pull his feathers out or start mutilating himself here. He has been talking and screaming up a storm all day, but all is quiet now. Wally is a little bit peeved at me for bringing this other bird into the house, but hopefully hell get over it. Im sure he will when he gets his feast tomorrow for lunch and another one for dinner. Conan seems to be unaffected by this new bird here, and has been talking up a storm. He told me some stories when I got in from work tonight. I do feel bad for Yoshees former human, though. After he got injured on the job, the company that he was working for went under, and he has not been able to even find a part time job since then. His house has been foreclosed on, which is why he placed Yoshee with me. I did try to get him to do a boarding type of situation for the bird, but he is unable to afford to pay for boarding the bird, so he signed Yoshee over to me. This guy really did A LOT of research on birds, and he wants so bad to learn more about birds, so we are setting up a schedule for him to come over to my house and volunteer with the birds that are here. Then we will see about getting him certified too. I also know that I could use him to go out on some of the grooming calls with me, and that will help to put a few bucks in his pocket. I have a few clients that have large birds, and I really dont have anybody who can handle them while I am clipping wings and nails, so this will be a perfect opportunity for the guy to learn and get some hands on training. With all of the research that he has already done, he is off to a great start. So next week I will start him over here so that my birds can get used to him. I am thrilled to have a protege that actually wants to learn and is excited about learning more. He feels the same way that I do...there is always something to lean, and he wants to learn at least one new thing each day, or his day is not complete. Thats what I want and need here. Work also went really well tonight. I can tell that this is going to be a great week! Have a great night everybirdie!
