You Are the Salt of the Earth Matt 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Jesus said that His disciples were the salt of the earth. Salt not only enhances the flavor of the food in which it is placed, but it also acts as a preservative. In my early childhood I lived on a farm. My father raised hogs. I often saw him rub meat down with salt which acted as a preservative. But it also gave the meat a great favor. We are to serve as preservative of the earth. We must preserve the faith, preserve standards of morality, preserve our Christian heritage, etc. We are the salt of the earth As salt enhances food we should enhance the lives of others. We are blessed to be a blessing. We are saved to make a difference. Iron sharpens iron. We provoke one another to love and to good works. We are to live as living epistles. We are the salt of the earth. Salt does lose its strength due to age. The strength of salt is lost by being watered down or by being mixed with other things. Keep yourself pure. Be the salt of the earth. Prayer Focus: Lord, make me an instrument of your will.
