You are not alone. I went through the same thing recently, & more than once. I was eliminated from my job for complaining that I had been toxically overloaded with work and put into a hostile environment which included my manager verbally and emotionally abusing me and scapegoating me on a regular basis - human resources did not investigate although they state it is their policy to do so. What they then did is a direct violation of my human right to dignity! (I did stand up, as incredibly hard as it was, and I did win a compensation package) No one I worked with spoke out or did anything to help me and they are not my friends today. I realized it was a repeat of past trauma. I too learned to stand up for myself and to appreciate this was an opportunity from the universe (however painful it was) to learn to stand up - to overcome familial and societal conditioning - after years of being beaten down. As survivors, sometimes we learn NOT to stand up for ourselves because we will be beaten or otherwise punished for it. We then take in the perpetrators message to our subconscious mind - that we deserved it and deserved to be punished for standing up and/or speaking out. This often develops into internalized aggression manifesting in self-sabotaging behaviours for which people then judge and feel superior to us. As you well know, these are grand lies we have been told in order for the perpetrator(s) to keep control over us. We all deserve better! Many people are engaging in this behaviour at work because thats what they did as children on the playground or in their families of origin. You go girl! You can and will overcome this. Each time we stand up and say NO to abuse, we become stronger! We may have to leave lucrative jobs and even family behind if they refuse to change the way they treat us. We will find something better! Eventually, we will be free from this tyranny. I am with you in soul and spirit... you have the support of the entire universe! I believe you will over come this...
