You cannot create a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Discs) - TopicsExpress

You cannot create a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Discs) without first converting your hard discs to dynamic discs. On Windows, you can create multiple partitions on a single physical hard disc and assign them to either individual volumes (C: D: etc.) or combine multiple partitions into one volume. However, if your hard disc is a basic disc, then it cannot combine partitions from multiple physical discs into one volume. This limits the ability to expand your storage when you need more. With a dynamic disc, if you run out of storage you can add another physical disc, create a partition on it, then add that partition to the volume containing your primary active partition. The only benefit of having a basic disc is that its data can be viewed by all the older operating systems due to the structure of the MBR (Master Boot Record) used. To convert your basic disc into a dynamic disc open Disc Management then right-click on a disc and select Convert to Dynamic Disc....
