You cannot view whats going on in Ferguson, Missouri through any other prism without first viewinv it through race. The issue of race has to be examined and appreciated in order to truly understand what is going on. Sure, there are larger and more universal issues at play such as the erosion of freedoms, the growing police state, police brutality, the militarization of our police forces, and others. But, this is first and foremost about how black men (and black women)are viewed by the police and much of mainstream white America with suspicion and fear. And how we are viewed as even less than human. The police need to see us a human beings and NOT as vermin.
