You cant define a gender if there is nothing to define it with. What makes a female a female or a man a man if you dont define her/his by her/his biological make-up or her/his role in society and his/her traits and so forth. You really cant be gender-less if there are no defining features to determine what a gender is. In result I feel that this concept of recognizing other genders outside the basic constructs of male and female is unnecessary unless one would come to the conclusion that gender does not exist and that people are just androgynous beings.
