You definitely dont need to wait 6 weeks until you exercise post birth and this is the same after a Csection delivery. This does not mean though that you rush back into your pregnancy routine and certainly not pre pregnancy exercise. Your 6 week Post birth Doctor follow up is also not a pass to get back into an old routine…. Ask yourself this did your Doctor:- Assess your diastasis Check your postnatal Posture Test your Glute Max and med for hip stability Assess your sleeping patterns Ask if you are coping ok Check your pelvic floor muscle Assess core muscle dysfunction If they did then thats is awesome but how can they clear you to go back into your old exercise routine if they didnt check the above? Doctors are not physios or corrective exercise specialists. I know the 2 Doctors I train have more confident in me when it comes to their post birth exercise than their own Local Doctors and one of them is their husband :-) pregnancyexercise.co.nz/debunking-the-6-week-wait-the-biggest-myth-about-postnatal-exercise/
