You have these blue days. And then you have these super blue days. - TopicsExpress

You have these blue days. And then you have these super blue days. So you instantly tend to remember the people who matter the most. Today was one such. Remembering Bombay and the last one year and how a lot of things in life didnt quite work out the way I wouldve wished. So I called my Mashi. My instant mood-lifter, balm, ice-pack. And many other things I can perhaps never explain with words. She took me to a temple close by. For the Shondha Aroti that happens on Tuesday evenings. Im not a religious person. Never really believed in temples. Or idols or praying openly. Never believed in a time for God, despite coming from a family that loves pujos and praying. For me a temple or church or mosque has always been about the architecture. And pujos about the art and aesthetic. Today however, was a different experience. Whether it was my state of mind, I dont know. But it was this calming white marble temple next to a pristine water body, and lush big trees - all shades of green, creating any umbrella around the structure. There were people from all castes. Women (assumedly housewives) after their evening showers, clad in sarees, conch shell bangles, vermilion on the forehead and powder dabbed copiously on their necks. Praying with undrafted faith and attention. My Mashi sat next to me, and just told me stories. She knew I wasnt really interested in the deafening sound of the bells or what the priests were reciting on the mike. These things always felt more like concerts to me. Todays experience was different for the only reason that my Mashi was sitting with me. Talking to her makes me believe in life. And the goodness of things. And that things fall in place. They somehow always tend to. She reminds me of something that my father always instilled in me. Being talented and being a good human being are not one and the same thing. Try and be the first. Buy definitely be the second. On days like these, you really feel like talking to God. Not to ask for anything. Buy to thank him for blessing you with such people in your life. Where everyday is a new learning.
