You know I cant end the night without a little dog talk! So lets talk some dog. This is my fav part of the day: watching the kids play. [Oh, and the pack walk in the morning, especially when @kalmlb and Lenny are with us!] But back to play time: do you see what I see? I see KingLu clocked in as referee. Always. Hes a fantastic read on dog behavior and psychology, so I always take his advice. After all, he does have a PhD in this stuff. A bit off camera we have the mall cop, Nola. Weve taken her Segway, and demoted her, so she is chillin next to me. The stars of the show, Shadow the gsd and my Dharma the pittie. [If you havent read my post about our clients dogs helping to rehab our own dog, go back just a few and check that one out.] This is pretty good play for these two adrenaline junkies. Note how a bark from The King is just fine with them, but when Shadow gives a high pitch bark towards the end, Dharma walks away. Remember, Dharma is my rescue that comes from somewhere in the dogfighting ring, and has / had aggression issues. Shes learned to self-regulate quite a bit, and shes learned to look to me when she needs guidance. She earned a fair amount of affection for that, it was a very good choice! It takes as long as it takes. Stay consistent, be a positive role model, it can take some dogs much longer than others. Just know that its always worth it. Superhero Dog Trainer Tip: Its not personal, so dont take it that way. Your dog is not acting aggressive in order to get back at you or hurt your feelings. Try to leave your emotions out of it. Becoming angry or frustrated only slows down the process. Create your #superdog attheendofyourleash ❤️ instagram/p/pfuTY9FaC_/
