You know, I dont usually get involved in these ridiculous debates - TopicsExpress

You know, I dont usually get involved in these ridiculous debates that are only fueled by judgement and personal opinions and facts from the media. However, this link is one of the best responses to this particular episode of outrage and injustice. Ill have you know that my husband is a deputy and has been in the same job for 5 yrs now, and after several raises, makes $12 per hour, which is significantly less than the average $14. He works 12 hour days, on shift, swapping from days to nights every couple of months, he works on weekends, holidays, and birthdays. And he does this with inspiring dedication, genuine respect, and unconditional love, for not only the job itself, but for every single citizen of this county. And he has never complained once. He chose this profession and knew the basics of what it entailed. He is also not the one writing this. I could sit here and wonder all day every day if my husband will make it home to me and out family, but no one can go through life like that. I know the dangers of his job and can only pray for his safety continuously. Our family has made too many sacrifices to count, but it is unmeasurable to the untold sacrifices he makes day in and day out. But I also knew the basics of what I was getting into, and I am not complaining. I am trying to educate anyone unfamiliar with our lives. And he does this all for you. The citizens. The ones in need. When you are in fear for your life, my husband throws aside his own fears to conquer yours. He goes to the ends of the earth to keep drunk and impaired drivers off of the road so you and your family can make it home safely from your soccer game. He arrests the bad guys so your kids can play outside with no worries, and so you can go to the grocery store without a gun. He is your safety insurance, he is always there when you need him. Always. And he does this without the first thank you. Now, with all that being said, if he gets a bolo for a couple of robbery suspects, he is probably going to take a couple of extra precautions when he runs across any individual that fits the suspect description - and rightfully so. Just because that suspect didnt use a weapon in the robbery does not mean that they wont have a weapon on their person. So when a fight ensues after routine questioning, how long is an officer supposed to wait to see if the suspect is unarmed before he uses his weapon? That boy knew that the officer was armed when he rushed him and started struggling with him. At what point during the fight did the officer have time to learn the suspect was unarmed? The officer was protecting his life, there was no news media to tell him that the boy didnt have a weapon like there was to tell us. It was a very unfortunate event, but the officer had every right to use the amount of force that he did. Thats not to say that other officers dont abuse their power (because they most certainly do!), but in this instance, I personally feel like the officer was within reason. I would like to also stress that this is most definitely NOT a black vs white issue, this is a good guy vs bad guy issue, THATS ALL. It seems the people who decided to make it a black vs white issue are the black citizens of Ferguson(St. Louis), Missouri. If I had rushed a black officer after I had just committed a robbery and was shot and killed, would it have been such a big deal? Or would that officer have acted within his every legal right to protect his life from a suspect in a crime, and potential threat? Its hard to say because the media is to fueling that fire now are they? I would like you to tell me that if that very same black boy had ended up killing the white cop that day, that I could walk outside my house right now and start burning down businesses and breaking windows and stealing everything. Can you tell me that please?! Is that an appropriate response? Is that what this country has come to? Have we not evolved as a country from the same type of violence in our past? When will we learn to look at both sides of the story and stop believing the media hype, and start loving each other as fellow human beings? As neighbors in this country? When will we start respecting the laws that we ourselves have voted for, and the extremely brave men and women who have stepped up to uphold them?! Im not writing this to get anyones opinion, believe me, I have read MORE THAN ENOUGH, I am writing this to challenge all of my friends to stop and think. Stop and think and understand that until you are in the hot seat, you can not make judgements on what either of those parties did on that day. That includes me too. Instead of judgement we should feel immense sadness at what this country has come to, and do everything in our power to make it better. I challenge you to thank your local police the next time you see them out and about, maybe during one of the rare times they have a spare 5 minutes to sit down and grab some lunch, since they missed breakfast and wont be able to eat again until they get off. I will not entertain any negative comments, so if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all. I would also like to give a big, fat, full of love THANK YOU to my husband, his coworkers, and any LEO that may read this :)
