You know, contrary to most white people who know mes belief about me, I am not a racist. I am though, a hater of racial supremacy. I have lost many white friends, many delete me, send me hate inboxes, but its fine, I still have friend who love me and although they hate my issues, they get the message. If I was racist, I wouldnt have a crush on J something and Michael Mol... There is reason for all this madness. Mental slavery is a huge issue amongst the whites and blacks. Most Blacks and Whites struggle with unconscious inferiority and superiority. Its sad to see it seep down all the way to the generation born in the 90s. I hear comments from SOME (most) white folk every so often about how they cant believe that black people want to make everything about race, that its 20 years so they must just get over it. Let me expose white supremacy right now, Im not covering everyone with the same umbrella but this is true for most. 1. As a white person, would you drive in a township (soweto, alex, tembisa, gugulethu etc) alone? Do you think its safe? 2. As a white person, when they report a crime nearby? Which colour comes to your mind when you think of the criminal? 3. Its been 20 years, blacks speak English and Afrikaans. Have you as a white person ever tried speaking ours? Research has it that because the thought is that the language is inferior, the person doesnt see the need to learn it, or finds it difficult to learn because of attitude towards it. 4. Have you tried to get any of your children to learn some of the other languages which form part of the official medium in SA, Just one or two maybe? 5. Face it, some of you who hear black people sound almost white think they are so progressive right? 6. Some whites treat black heritage as some sort of monument that makes for tourist attraction. 7. Some Whites patronise blacks when they butcher our language and expect black people to find it cute. You have that smug about you when you say Kunjaaan. 8. Some whites will correct pronunciation but then when they say Kosa, but when I correct them, they look at me as if Im mad 9. Some whites can hear that I am articulate in english but they still speak slowly to me, sometimes with a weird accent that you call black. 10. Some of you speak to my grandfather like hes your niece. (I have seen this with my own eyes) 10. Some of you get marvelled by blacks like me who are so articulate and educated. It fascinates your mind at how this could be possible. Almost like when a dog starts speaking, its just amazing. 11. Some of you know what your forefathers did on this land directly benefited you, yet you do NOTHING today to bring restoration, the rhino is more important. 12. Many have said blacks feel entitled, why dont they just work hard like you. They are lazy - lazy? How about you become a domestic worker or a builder for a day? Lazy ne? 13. Terminal A at Or thambo - is filled with white travellers (in a country where blacks are the majority?) Let me tell you why some things make me mad about realities amongst some of us and some of you 1. When I try to teach my uncle the internet and he takes a while because Bantu education really messed his brain up. Wena your grandfather is on facebook. 2. Your grandmother jogs, wears lipstick while my grandmother is nursing her swollen feet 3. I have 0 inherited wealth 4. Debt is a cycle in black life- we pay off our grandparents and parents debt the minute we start working. 5. We take family members to school, build our parents houses with our salary. 6. Your parents buy you cars the minute you turn 18. Some of the cars driven by white students at Wits some blacks have to work their sweat off to drive 7. You have your home language as a first language at school (English and afrikaans), 8. Language is Power, we seem more confident in the languages we most comfortable with. Process between thought and speech is not congruent in someone who struggles with English, so it becomes a problem when they have to express themselves, they sound faffled and slow, hence labelled as low IQ I do not so much hold you against what tour forefathers did, I am holding you against what you are not doing. This does not speak about every white person, and I do know that some blacks have their faults as well, its a topic for another day, right now, Im talking about your role in SA - you hold it against us that we are so hurt and everything is about race. I am not a racist, I just want to deconstruct the mental chains of racial supremacy #ThoughtfulTuesday
