You know how it is with parents and their children. They - TopicsExpress

You know how it is with parents and their children. They discipline the first set and as they (both parents and children) get older, rely on the older children to enforce discipline with younger ones. So I remember as a child, those many times Id pled with Owi not to report me to bro X or sis Y. She had the same story for me all the time. Once upon a time, an influential king had an only son with whom he attended meetings of traditional rulers. One day, this prince embarked on a journey and while he was away, a meeting was called another king. In the princes absence, the King decided to go with his favorite slave. The day came, slave was dressed in princely apparels and they set on their journey. On their way, the slave could neither believe his eyes nor his luck. Turning to the king, he pleaded, Kabiyesi, look how princely I look. I am grateful to you but please, when we get to our destination, do not tell them I am a slave. The kings response was short and conditional so long as you do not tell anyone youre not my son, no one would suspect youre a slave. To meeting venue they got. Having arrived late, they met other kings and their princes seated already. And before everyones eyes, bro slave, to the shock of all present, went to sit on bare floor with his princely robes. All blame went to the king who brought a slave to a royal meeting. Turning to the slave, his master asked, did you or did you not tell everyone youre a slave? End of story. When a Moyes was doing well at his mid-table team at Everton, Sir Alex Ferguson felt he was ripe for promotion. He felt he had the potentials to move from playing down there to handling one of the biggest football teams on the planet. So he brought him on. I can almost hear Moyes telling SAF, please, help me to succeed and sweet, ole Fergies response of so long as you want to succeed. Moyes comes to Old Trafford, a new terrain. Filling shoes obviously too big for him. Rather than rely on the team Sir Fergie had built back room, in a classic spirit of I have arrived, Moyes sacked the back room staff replacing with his own people. Rather Nigerian, I say, that move. Well, now, Moyes has shown to the world how unqualified to play up there he is. Teams morale is low. Men of Man United play on the field and they look like they are novices to the beautiful game. How important leadership is to output of followers! I cant not bring Dr. Jonathan into this. Feel free to relate this to him as you understand the update. A crisis of leadership has the same result in every sphere and at all levels - catastrophe. While fans continue to chant Glory, Glory Manchester United, it seems a unanimous agreement that Moyes is er, I hate to use the word but, well, Moyes is clueless. Who made this prayer-comment on one of my older threads earlier this month? I cant remember but its poignant: may you never be promoted beyond your capabilities. E ya samin adura. *forgive mistakes*
