You know, we were thinking (yes, we do that on rare occasions)... the oligarchs and their political puppets could easily save El Paso taxpayers a lot of money--which they can then find other ways to divert into their fat profit margins-- but back to our thought... they could save us money by just cancelling elections for local offices. No need for voting machines, poll workers, that entire department in the judges court real, no need to print voter guides, etc, etc. It would be good for the environment (no more wasted and littered yard signs and voter guides) and allow us to enjoy more of Mayor Leesers lovely mommas commercials instead of yet again another annoying political ad full of bile and useless lies. Instead, the city, county and even the state could just auction off each political seat to the highest bidder (and we all know who will win). No need to file stupid campaign finance reports that just give our abundant posse of bloggers a reason to exist. In the end, the only ones to complain will be a small group of crazies and maybe the rest of the 2.75% of the electorate that likes to vote, probably just to get a sticker and reason to post it on Facebook. Heck, the oligarchs can give out free stickers and save themselves the layers of masked donations and advertising expenses that they now have to throw at our local media. Even better yet, maybe the city and county could just sell the city rep and commission seats. So instead of District 1, 2, 3, etc., it could be the Woody Hunt city council seat, the Paul Foster chair (lets give both of those fine gents two a piece cuz theyre such generous philanthropists). Oh, and of course, there would be the Bay-toe Pappy-in-Law honorable seat. The lesser oligarchs like the car dealers and lower-spot-in-the-trough-line hangers-on could pool their $$$ and buy one via the PDN/Borderplex or the commerce chamber (or maybe the chamber can get its name on one of the bathrooms and aptly call it the Chamber pot). Seriously. Looking at the recent City District 6 campaign finance haul reports its obvious whos the official candidate, who BM and his Slimes are promoting (evidence by who is being slimed) and thus whos gonna land Eddies seat. Lets just sell it. Starting bids at $1K
