You know what REALLY gets under my skin?! People who bash - TopicsExpress

You know what REALLY gets under my skin?! People who bash westernaires when they dont even have their facts straight about the whole organization. Come out and see us before you start believing the rumors going around.. As an owner and rider myself, just like many others out there, my number one priority IS safety. Of not only myself and my horse, but also the people in that arena with me. Wearing a helmet is the families decision alone! Personally, I feel safer with out one. And thats my choice. And yes, trick riding may be the most dangerous and craziest thing you could do, but a helmet would only make things worse. You could get caught up so easily and be drug around.. You say we dont take care of our horses and run them to the ground?! I can tell you flat out, I have never taken better care of an animal or even myself than my horse and the horses I ride. I thank them for everything they do for me and when we exit that arena, good or bad, and I would NEVER run them harder than they could handle. Period. You say we dont have any horsemanship? Then why do we keep getting more and more invites from rodeos to perform in their shows all across the country? Why do so many kids and people see us and are just in awe? Yea maybe our horsemanship needs to be worked on a little, but so does everyones! No matter who you are. Horses have a mind of their own, and yes some people are unable to ride that high spirited horse, or even get the slow one moving, but we all try to the best of our ability, and if someone was to see it as a safety issue, we would take them off that horse and give them one they would work better with. Sure I wish we had a little more one on one training with the instructors but were a VOLUNTEER organization. And all the profits from renting goes straight to feeding the 200+ horses we have out there. Were limited on time and theres only so many people to help out but we come together as a family to get it done. Yes, there are a few things I dont agree with westernaires, but you know Ive been taught some things you could never learn anywhere else. Westernaires is my home. It helps me through school and even life alone. They always say education comes before anything else and its that what we want? A brighter, smarter, future? Ive met so many great people and made so many new friends that wouldnt have been possible without it. Not everyone can afford a horse, and it gives these kids a way to experience their dream. Thats one of my favorite things about it. So yes, I will respect your opinion, but before you choose sides, come out a take a look for yourself. Just look at all the kids loving, hugging, kissing, and spoiling those horses. Most of those horses were given a second chance, a second chance to live and be loved, and you know in return, they give those kids suffering with depression and other mental disorders, a reason to keep living. They put a smile on our faces, they bring joy to our lives and happiness to everyone out there. Every single horse has at least one kid who do anything for it.. No its not for everyone, but now, how do you feel for bashing kids dreams, their goals, their lives? We work our butts off for our passion, so shut your mouth until youve got the facts right. Thank you.
