You know whats amazing? When I was putting together my Kickstarter, Ophidian and I were discussing regularly the realism of the situation; there was a possibility that I wouldnt make my goal. I budgeted and rebudgeted over and over again, trying to cut costs, researching vendors. (I actually made an alternative campaign budget where I only needed $3000, but it wouldnt have been the style of disc and record jackets that I wanted and there would be no buttons.) I agonized over what I was asking for; did people even want a new record from me? I felt like asking for money for my music was selfish. I thought people had stopped paying attention. I was nervous. I was scared. Were 12 days away from the campaign ending and less than $100 away from $4000. Four. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. Im going to be able to get t-shirts printed! One of my musical idols, Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls, is going to BE PLAYING DRUMS ON MY ALBUM. And above all, Jane-iacs, above all...For the first time in my life, I can listen to my own music without cringing and apologizing. I LOVE the material on this record, and I cant tell you how proud I am to finally be able to suggest such a thing, to feel shameless and blameless and free.
