You know youre a dance teacher when: You have an extended detailed nightmare about teaching a dance in a style youre not prepared to teach with a partner with whom youve rarely danced in that style. Yesterdays dream about teaching Balboa also involved several dance-class sub scenarios: 1) Crazy student who wouldnt stop doing ALL THE WRONG THINGS ALL THE TIME IN THE MOST VIOLENT WAY. 2) An L-shaped room that made it hard to demo the movement so everyone could see. 3) One of my mentors who teaches Balboa taking my class and looking annoyed. 4) I publicly stumped my partner mid-class by asking them to demonstrate how to lead a transition step that they have no idea how to lead. 5) My partner left to go to the bathroom, so I ended up leading the class by myself, calling rotations and trying to answer questions that I had no idea how to answer. Wow. What a whammy of multiple teaching anxieties all in a row!
