You may have heard that Florida State Regulators recently approved proposals cutting Florida’s energy-efficiency goals by more than 90% for the coming year. What you may not have heard is how these changes will affect you - as a resident of Southern Florida. Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, Florida Power and Light is eliminating its current consumer rebates on 14 SEER equipment in response to changes in minimum energy efficiency standards. You will also see significant cuts in the rebates you are currently eligible for when you upgrade to higher SEER efficiency ratings - up to 65% less in some cases. Most importantly - these cuts go into effect on MIDNIGHT, Jan. 1. While we are always proud of advances in the air conditioning industry - especially those that improve the energy efficiency of our equipment - we recognize that these changes come with an immediate negative impact to our customers. We created a program to match Florida Power and Light’s rebates with this in mind. Our hope is that matching FPL will afford more residents of South Florida the opportunity to take advantage of savings before they expire on Dec. 31, 2014. This program would be of great interest to anyone considering purchasing a new air conditioner in the next year. Please help us get the word out and click share.
