You may have seen the NVICs new pamphlet about Law and Policy. Here is a response to the claims in that document. The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is an anti-vaccine organization dedicated to reforming vaccination laws and policy to make it easier to obtain exemptions from mandatory vaccination laws. NVIC spreads misinformation about vaccine safety and effectiveness and can be ascribed some of the blame for the recent decline in vaccination rates and increase in diseases once eliminated from the United States like measles and mumps. Recently, NVIC published a guide to reforming vaccine law and policy. This guide is problematic as it encourages individuals to refuse vaccination and misinforms the public about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.
