You mean there really was an orphan in the Bible? asked precious - TopicsExpress

You mean there really was an orphan in the Bible? asked precious 12-year old Robai one night after I had been teaching from the book of Esther. Questions such as that are difficult to answer, because I must choke back tears as the realization hits me of how insignifigant these children view themselves. Esther has always been one of my favorite Bible stories, but the fact that she was an orphan had never meant so much. I believe God inserted that story in His Word specifically to fill every orphan for the rest of time with hope. How blessed was I to be able to pour truth into these girls on how God views them and that He has a marvelous plan for their lives, just as He did for Queen Esther. We all just need to have faith and be willing. For me, that has been showing the love of Christ to 21 phenomenal children. Often, I am asked how I am doing, and people usually react so surprised that I am not only survivng but thriving. It is so funny to me because of how absolutely ordinary my life feels. A child doesnt have food, so I buy them a loaf of bread. A young boy has a gaping and infected leg wound, I search for medicine and clean it twice a day. Orphans have never been hugged; well, I spend weeks taking their arms, wrapping them around me, and squeezing them tight until the day when they run up to me for a hug! A teacher doesnt show up to their school; of course I go and teach math and chemistry all day long! One of my boys had no shoes for school so I obviously handed him my own. It seems soo simple to me, all I do is see the needs God places in front of me and fill them as best I can! The only thing extraordinary about it is watching God at work. As Isaiah 55 says, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than you ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. My life is only me being a vessel used to do things above and beyond anything I imagined. I cannot thank each person in my life enough for the support spiritually, emotionally, and finanicially. As one of my 7-year old little brother likes to tell me at breakfast, God is good, all the time, Hallelujah! He is, and it is absolutely beautiful to experience.
