You might have noticed that Ive been quiet for a bit on here. Thanks for all those who checked in X. I was just gathering my thoughts after the referendum. Which I will now share with you. In the aftermath I felt many things, shock, betrayal, bitter disappointment, embarrassment and a few others. After what I witnessed first hand on George Square from British Unionists I had a lot of dark thoughts indeed. But mostly I had questions. How could a Nation vote not to become one? How could a capital city vote not to become a capital city? How could the Scots vote not to become Scottish? How can we sing about rising up or being brave if we bottled it? I thought that was the dream dead. But then the Independence parties membership tripled, rallies started happening on a weekly basis. Unionist lies about Oil, more powers, pensions crumbled in the first month. Unionist newspaper sales plummeted and the Labour Party were shown up finally for what they were when Johann Lamont resigned So I started digging and found Lord Ascrofts final poll held after the vote. In it it had the votes by age, gender, social level ect, as was reported in the papers. But I also found this. Some 51 per cent of Scots-born voters supported independence whereas 74% of voters who were born elsewhere in the UK voted No. When you consider that Scotland welcomes 500,000 people from other parts of the UK, you can see that this makes up the vast bulk of the winning margin. In essence, the Scots voted Yes! We are not a minority. We didnt bottle it. We did rise up and we were brave. I am not ashamed. I am proud! The fight will continue. Till next time then. Its good to be back X Saor Alba
