You wanna go on an adventure? In todays video, I hazard a trip - TopicsExpress

You wanna go on an adventure? In todays video, I hazard a trip onto my rooftop with iPhone and bucket of water in hand to partake in the ALS Ice Bucket challenge. For those of you who werent aware, my mother, Mary Jane Mann, died of ALS in January 2011. Its been nice to see the huge upswing in support for ALS research in the past month due to the Ice Bucket challenge. While I know it might seem strange (What does dumping ice on your head have to do with contributing to a cause?), no one ever said that wearing pink ribbons was going to cure breast cancer. And while raising awareness is certainly an issue, what the Ice Bucket challenge has done more successfully is to raise activity. The contribution numbers dont lie, and what might seem like a silly little stunt — Ive even heard narcissistic, because of how its basically a selfie that screams look at me, Im charitable — look, guys, its working. ALSA has claimed nearly $23,000,000 so far from the campaign. Less than a month. Activity. So do it because its fun and silly and you get to make your friends dump water on their heads. Do it because it makes you look charitable, if thats your thing. Dont do it at all and contribute quietly — I was prepared to do that until Doug tapped me. But Im glad he did, because were spreading something good, and people are actively participating in something bigger than themselves. They should feel good about it. We should all feel good about this. You guys have been so kind and charitable in contributing in the past (I tend to ask people in January each year) that Id feel like a bit of a sneak tapping three of you to do this. But you guys have been so kind and charitable that I suspect I wont have to. With love, and a little bit of vertigo from climbing a twelve-foot ladder with both hands full, Jon Mann https://youtube/watch?v=u9sup9OWM0Q&feature=youtu.be
