You were inside one of the country’s hundreds of domestic - TopicsExpress

You were inside one of the country’s hundreds of domestic flights on one of the summer mornings of May. You finally saw seat 5D printed just immediately below the latch bin of the aircraft, after being guided by the male cabin crew. It was your first time not to be assigned in the exit row. Hell yeah. It was a good thing. At a seemingly long last, you finally sat down. You were so tired, you felt your body magnetized the chair or it was the other way around. You immediately wore the seat belt even without the usual announcement. You just wanted to be ahead of everyone, you thought. Then in an instant you felt that you were gradually shifting from a very comfy sitting position to a feeling of being pushed from a forward origin back to seat 5D. The rare sensation was castigating your lungs. The feeling grew so uncomfortable. You had been an occasional passenger of this airline but this experience always gives you this subliminal mental pain and the fear for the unknown. From ‘slow mo’, the aircraft is now running to a blitzkrieg super speed. Outside the window of the aircraft you can see trees, buildings and among others shifted from a vivid to a vague visual combination of green, brown and some colors you could no longer identify because you were moving so unusually fast. You were starting to be nervous but, still, it was manageable. You felt a lump in your throat as if something was blockading your olfactory and auditory senses as the aircraft was starting to separate from the ground. You started to swallow your saliva. It was effective. You felt an immediate relief. You saw hundreds of minute houses and objects just several kilometers below where you sat. Just so that you realized that you were already flying, above the ground. The sea was enchanting from this perspective. The island of Leyte was floating on it. The sky was oh so perfect, so serene and vast. In a moment, you suddenly became aware that you were not alone. You were flying together with more than a hundred of passengers with different stories of this experience. You became teary eyed. Then you saw yourself praying… fervently. A big decision brought you here! For another instant in your life, life brought you to the majestic mountains leading to Lake Holon, an enchanted place in T’Boli, South Cotabato. Everything was surreal. The agony and pain while you walk uphill reminded you that life is never easy. Every step you took should always be decided. The downpour of rain, in your face and right in front of you, makes you realize that it’s never easy to move yet you were actually challenged. Without it, you thought, it would never be as exciting as it is. Oh how you keep on rehearsing this line in your head in your 4-hour uphill walk: Life is not all about the destination. It’s all about the journey towards your destination. SO enjoy the lush green leaves and the gusts of fresh air. You were lucky, you were with nice people during your climb. You enjoyed how they made you going, how they inspired you to walk farther. In the end, when you reached Lake Holon, you were extra euphoric, for everything was worth it. You’ve been enslaved by the placidity of the lake. Peacefulness of the mountains beside it. Every single sacrifice paid off. You just had to enjoy what you had, what you see and what you feel. It made you happy. Life is a gift after all. There goes yourself, seated in front of your colleagues in the academe in your workplace in a Wednesday afternoon. You were presiding a very important meeting for you had to talk how you will make sure everything at work is well orchestrated. You had to make sure everyone is on track. You were hitting one goal—the achievements of your students. You realize it’s never easy to face them, and instruct them what they ought to do. You have to consider diversity and individual difference. You have to listen to what they were speaking. Every concern should be well taken care of. You have to make them feel that they are completely part of the big plan, and as teachers they have the salient parts as forerunners. Life is not a joke. You have to take it seriously this time. Yet another instant popped up. You were enjoying your Me time in one of the malls of Korondal city in a usual Sunday. You finally decided to visit your favorite hangout, Booksale, after having a good lunch at Chowking. You were browsing a myriad of titles. There’s a flood of them. Suddenly, it gave you the usual adrenaline excitement as you enter this tiny room in an extra spacious mall. You started rubbing shoulders with complete strangers. You finally redirected your attention to a myriad of books and other reading materials inside the room. Oh, it was such an information overload experience. You suddenly wanted to read everything. However, you have to take it easy. You can never absorb everything overnight. It takes time. You suddenly realize you were like your good old self, so wide eyed and excited to learn almost everything. The feeling is piercing you, so you decided to pick a book. It read Cracking the Fourth Grade: Reading and Math. You thought this could be a big help. Yet you saw another book titled Math Excursions. It was so nice just to cost 15 bucks. You became happy about your visit. In a span of three months of being away from home, you already got a myriad of stories to tell. It sometimes gives you a euphoric feeling when you recount stories, for they are life themselves, more so when you tell them. Life is a series of events and life is a journey at the same time. What is really important is how you take each experience, how you see each situation and how you interpret life itself.
