You were standing next to the track interchange at a railway - TopicsExpress

You were standing next to the track interchange at a railway station. You knew there were kids playing on the two railways. one is still in use, where a dozen of kids were playing; and another is no longer used, where only one kid was. Suddenly the train came. So what is your decision? whether you let the train go on its operational course killing a dozen of kid or change the course of the train to the disused track killing only one kid. Take a few second and think about it before you go on. A lot of people might choose to divert the course to the disused track and sacrifice only one kid than many kids. You might be one of the people as well. It is our instinct to think that the majority is more important than the minority. And of course there is nothing wrong about that. However, if we take a step back and think about our decision, we can see the following: - The kids who were playing on the operational track were aware of the danger because they knew the train might come anytime and they would leave the track immediately to safety when they heard the horning. - The kid who was playing alone on the disused track believe that there was no danger for him so he might ignore the sound of the train and definitely killed by the train. - The disused track was no longer used because it was broken so all the passengers might get killed when the train went out of its track. So instead of saving lives of a dozen you killed one kid and hundreds of passengers on board. These scenario are parallel to our daily life. We face a lot of dilemma each day. We hardly choose what is right and what is wrong with a QUICK decision.
