You will see a lot of very cool photos and posts today. People smarter me than have worked for a long time to make impressive pictures with poetic verse. And they are very cool. They will be poignant and meaningful. They may inspire you and they may move you to tears. They should. The blood that dripped out of every American soldier that gave their life for our country deserves our tears and it should inspire us to be better citizens. The cost in human life can never be calculated for it is irreplaceable. And the freedoms that we enjoy can never be taken for granted because of the price that was paid. We must remain a grateful nation always saying thank you to those families who are left behind. The United States of America will pause today to thank those dead heroes. We honor the dead today. How do we do that? We remember. We visit our National Cemeteries and Battlefields. We pray for the Gold Star Moms. We pray for the children who will grow up with pictures of fathers or mothers in uniform instead of the real thing. We pray for those who served along side of those who died. The memories of their fallen brothers and sisters are always fresh in their minds. We cant ask and they wont tell. We havent earned that right and they have. And we honor the memory of those who fell by also honoring those who were with them. The heroes that gave their lives didnt want to die. No one in their right mind wants to die. Except Jesus. He willingly went to the cross for you and me. He died. He was buried. The difference is that He didnt stay there. He won the greatest war ever fought. The war to defeat sin. And He won. We can have that victory. That is Gods amazing grace. The question is this. Will you honor Him by accepting His gift? Lord, today we honor and pray for those who gave it all. I ask that You will answer the prayers to hold and lift up those are left behind. And I pray that through the haze of this world, people would see the Amazing Love that is Jesus Christ. In His Name.
