#YouCanDoAnything #IfYouPutYourMindToIt It was at the end of last October when I met Sydnee for the first time. Her mum first signed her up as a gym member to help with her cardio because the facility she attended at the time didnt have cardio equipments. At the end of December her mum also decided to sign her up for PT sessions with me starting early January to help speed up achieving her goal. Sydnees goal was to enter the army and in order to do that she had to pass the 7.5 level beep test, do 8 push-ups on her toes and 45 situps straight. So knowing what the goal was, I conducted a fitness assessment on Sydnee like I do with all of my clients. The result - Sydnee couldnt do a single push-up on her toes even pushups on her knees was near impossible. She could manage to do about 10 situps and the beep test well she couldnt get to level 3. I was like oh boy now thats a challenge. But I believe nothing defines life more than the word challenge and every time I see the word challenge I also see the word thriving. Anyway, about 2wks into her PT sessions Sydnee comes to training and tells me that she had her test in about a month and half. Right away I got on the phone to her mum and said: Id love to continue training Sydnee but Ive also got to be realistic with you as youre spending money here. Sydnees not going to be able to pass her test in a month and half. Im happy if you choose to discontinue her personal training sessions. Her mum assured me that it was ok to keep training her and that if she didnt pass the test shed have to do the next one so I said ok good I just didnt want to give you false hopes and take your money. She said no its fine. So we got back to work. Sydnee didnt pass that test as expected. But that wasnt going to be the end of the story. Not knowing what the next date would be our goal was to pass the next one. So we had to get cracking and by cracking I meant that. I remember Sydnee went home from training one day and her mum rang me. She said Sydnee came home upset today. She thinks shes disappointing you and doesnt think shes going to be able to pass the test. I understand what youre doing but dont ring her now or tell her I rang you because shed be even more upset. I immediately felt bad because Sydnee didnt understand my intention and the message I was trying to get across to her and that I made a young girl upset. You know I dont always raise my voice when I train my clients unless its necessary. And on this day I had to make Sydnee understand that if she wanted to pass the beep test it WASNT ok to just STOP whenever she felt like. Shed have to dig a lot deeper and stop being a sook which is common with people her age. So after the phone call with her mum I had talk to Sydnee at the next training session and make her understand that she wasnt disappointing me and that I believe she could pass her test. And that even though her mum wanted her to be able to pass the test and that I wanted her to be able to pass her test as well How Bad Did She Really Want It?. Was she doing it for her mum or for herself? The answers from that talk was our biggest turning point. Sydnee passed the next preliminary test with 10 push-ups on her toes, 60 sit-ups and 7.5 level beep test and was on her way to the main test in Towsnville. I held in my excitement because it was only a preliminary test and told her not to get complacent. Last Monday when I posted this photo Sydnee had passed her test in Townsville and is now on her way to the ARMY!!! I couldnt share this story then because she hadnt told her work yet. As proud as I was as her trainer itll be silly for me to sit here and claim Sydnees achievement. The amount of work she put in to achieve this is phenomenal. She only trains with me twice a week and Ill be the first to say that 2 sessions a week could not have got her to passing her test. She was in here at least 5 days a week and when she wasnt in the gym she was running at home somewhere working her butt off to achieve this and I couldnt be any prouder of you Sydnee you deserve it. Again well done! But dont get comfy - strive for more. I wouldnt say Im a good personal trainer thats not what Im about but I can say I have very good clients that make me look good! Thank you Sydnee! If youre at work and you read this whole story you wanna be the boss haha have a great day all! #ImpossibleIsNothing #TheStoryTeller
