Young Qari from city wins contest held in Turkey #HYDERABAD: A 12-year-old Qari(reciter of the Koran) from the city has stood first in recently held international qirat competition in Istanbul, Turkey. Mohammed Shoeb Sharfuddin Sharfi, a class 8th eighth student of MESCO Grade School, Malakpet, was the only representative from India participating in the 12-16 age group competition where about 80 boys from 40 countries had taken part. He beat them all by reading verses from Koran in an immensely appealing and technically correct style. Shoeb was trained by his father Mohammed Naseeruddin who is also a globally recognized reciter of the Koran at Sharafiya Tajveed wa Qirat Academy. Naseeruddin said, "Shoeb is a bright boy. While continuing his studies at MESCO school he is also devoting time to memorize the Koran. Once that is completed he will be called a Qari and Hafiz." A representative of the Turkish organizers of the contest Ali Ilter presented championship certificate to Shoeb at a function in Tolichowki .
