Young & black - shaniyaa Davis I am not a statistic Thats something I refuse to be Growing up is tough but Im determined to make it to where Im supposed to be Young , black & determined Three things Im proud to be. I refuse to be caught up in these streets Cause I and when I say I I mean we as black teens are really underestimated and always defined stereotypically Gang bangers who daddy never wanted to be. Its stereotypes like these that push me to where I want to be Nah , scratch that where Im GOING TO BE. Cause I refused to blend in stereo & statistically. Average wont be a word used to describe me. I am African American , I am unique But dont let my race classify what I am going to be. See I was born gifted and Im above those stereotypes I have been lifted I am naturally defined as a rare commodity Cause Im black and beautiful, a young lady that knows where she ought to be. Ill be damned if I let stereotypes and statistics imprison me. Ill be damned if I dont get to where I have to be. Because I and when I say I i mean we Have all this potential and need to use it to become successful and get to where we got to be. We as a race have grown, spiritually & mentally. Young black teens are now the future and going to mold history And I as in we cant let stereotypes and statistics stop us from what we are going to be. We are going to be successful and strong, physically & mentally.
