Your character is basically the sum of your habits. God uses his Word, people and circumstances to mould us. All three are important for our character development. Gods Word provides the truth we need to grow; Gods people provide the support we need to grow; and our circumstances provide us with the environment so that we can grow to be more like Christ. Many people assume that all that is needed for spiritual growth is Bible study and prayer. God usually prefers to work through people rather than performing miracles, so we will depend on each other for fellowship. He wants us to grow together! Many religions consider the most spiritually mature people to be those who isolate themselves with God. But, spiritual maturity is not a solitary individual pursuit! You must be around other people. Why? Because true spiritual maturity is learning to love like Jesus, and you cant practise being like Jesus without being in relationship with other people. You were also taught to become a new person created to be like God, truly righteous and holy. - Ephesians 4:24
