Your college application is all about how you will contribute to your new college environment and your essay is the way to deliver that message. Its about quality not quantity. What make you unique, different, and special? Do what you love and really enjoy. Is it community service, playing the cello, giving tours at an art gallery, or driving the Zamboni at hockey games (seriously cool!)? My 11-year old loves to create in the kitchen. Well develop that hobby and if she still loves cooking (not cleaning up, of course) when shes in high school perhaps that will be the subject of an essay. And parents, let your kids gravitate toward their interests and support them. If its cliché, colleges will see through it.
