Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on - TopicsExpress

Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor. Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they? Habakkuk 1:13 When we look around us and see all the evil and injustice in the world today do we sometimes question God? I believe all of us at times wonder where God is in the midst of all the tragedy in the world not only today but also in times past. We see the death and destruction of those who we in our eyes deem as good, innocent children, and others who live Godly lives and we do not understand how a loving God can allow such things to take place. The first thing we should remember is that we do not see things as God sees them we can not see the full picture. We must remember that God exists from eternity past to eternity future and only He sees and knows all. We need to remember that since the fall of man in the garden we are living under a curse, a curse that affects not just man but the entire world as we know it. Satan who is called the prince of the air has dominion over this earth for a time, that does not mean that he himself does not have limitations as we see in the book of Job. However God has allowed him to run to and fro causing havoc and destruction as he goes, leaving no life untouched by sin. Likewise we should know from reading the OT that God at times allows evil forces in this world to be part of His punishment for His children due to their sins this includes what we term natural disasters. We read in the OT where He has brought drought and famine into the land, flooded the world, and used nations such as Babylon and Assyria to discipline those whom He loves. in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Ephesian 2:2 “I will also punish him and his descendants and his servants for their iniquity, and I will bring on them and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the men of Judah all the calamity that I have declared to them—but they did not listen.” Jeremiah 36:31 We read likewise in the NT where Jesus told His disciples that there would be wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes, and other disasters signifying the coming of the end of times. Do we think that these disasters and wars will not affect all people including those we deem as innocents. We read even where Jesus healed a man who was blind from birth, where His disciples asked Jesus the reason for his blindness. Was it because of his sins or the sins of his parents? Now we might ask ourselves how can one born blind be guilty of sin from his birth? We would do well to remember the words of David King of Israel who said he was born in iniquity and conceived in sin. Yet this was not the reason this man was born blind but as Jesus said that the glory of God might be revealed. You see all of the terror, evil, disasters, and other atrocities in this world today will one day reveal the glory of God Almighty. That glory has yet to be revealed but there is coming a day when the King of Kings will return in all of HIs majesty and glory. Then we will see His justice poured out upon this world with each receiving their due either wrath or justification through Christ Jesus our Lord. Until that day we as the prophet Habakkuk has said need to trust in God who is faithful and rejoice for His Kingdom is coming. “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. Matthew 24:6-7 As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him John 9:1-3 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. 1 Peter 4:13 Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, And makes me walk on my high places. Habakkuk 5:17-19 Father God there are times in each of our lives where we cannot see Your hand at work because of the evil and destruction all about us. These are times that cause us to fear and have doubts about Your power to save and protect. We do not see things as You see them for eternity is in Your hands. Help us oh God Almighty to not forget that one day Your glory will be revealed in its fullest, that Satan has already been defeated but his time has not yet come. Help us to trust in Your faithfulness knowing that You will do as You have promised. Help us to read and to know Your word that we might have a better grasp of what is going on around us and not fear. Forgive us our feeble minds that sometimes doubt and are prone to the tricks of the evil one strengthen us for all that lies ahead. I ask all these things in the name above all names Christ Jesus. Amen
