Youssef Bey Karam is a historical play by Antoine Ghandour. It is about Youssef Bey Karam (May 15, 1823 -- April 7, 1889), a Lebanese National Hero who fought in the 1860 civil war and led a rebellion in 1866 against the Ottoman Empire rule in Mount Lebanon. His proclamations have been interpreted as an early expression of Lebanese nationalism. It premiered in 1993 at The Ivoire Theatre in Sin-El-Fil. The production starred Antoine Kerbej and the play directed by Raymond Jabara.
