Youve heard of it, and possibly feared it, but now is your chance to participate in the presentation sensation that is sweeping the nation: BATTLEDECKS. Battledecks is a fast-paced and fun spectacle where contestants have to put together a presentation on the fly as Powerpoint slides are randomly projected for their confusion and the delight of the audience. Contestants are then judged by a panel of fellow librarians. Audience participation (a.k.a. heckling and hooting and hollering) is highly encouraged. Everyone goes home happy but only one person can be declared the 2014 MLA Battledecks champion and win fabulous prizes! If you have never heard of Battledecks, you can watch a replay of the national completion at ALA Annual 2012 at youtube/watch?v=wCkFHAWij24. If you have ever dreamed of becoming a Battledecks champion, or judging the starry-eyed contestants, please contact Jodie Borgerding at [email protected]. The Battledecks competition will take place Wednesday October 8th at 9 pm. Location: Windsor III at the Holiday Inn Columbia Executive Center, Columbia, MO.
