You’re Invited! Come to OZ FEST & Meet Dorothy & Toto! Dorothy, Toto and friends are coming to the Land of OZ to meet everyone at Hollis Park District’s Annual OZ FEST Saturday, August 17 (rain date on Sunday, August 18) at Butler Haynes Park, 9424 S. Mapleton Rd., Mapleton, IL. This event is free and fun for the whole family! There will be fun, games and prizes for the kids… food, crafters and vendors. The Wizard’s hot air balloon will be there, too! Mark your calendars now and don’t miss this fun-filled event! There’s always something new and fun to see in the Merry Old Land of OZ! Join us from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interesting Facts: The idea to create the “Wizard of OZ” Children’s Garden was conceived in 2002 and ground was broken in 2003 by the Hollis Park District Garden Club. With the cooperation of the Park Board of Commissioners and assistance of the Maintenance and Gardening staff, Volunteers put in many of hours to create this fun and magical place for Children of all ages. The Land of OZ is a 1½ acre garden located at Butler Haynes Park, Mapleton, IL and is open and free to the public from spring through fall. The Yellow Brick Road is 3’ wide and 325’ long winding through the forest, poppy field, and ending at Emerald City. The Haunted Forest is there too, IF YOU DARE to go to the Witch’s Castle to save Dorothy and help her get back home! Hey Mom, I Want My Birthday Party in the Land of OZ! The open pavilion can be reserved for birthday parties, picnics, reunions, etc. The reservation fee is only $25.00. Use the OZ theme and the decorations are already there! Call the Recreation Center at (309) 697-2929 to make your reservation today. Rainbow Plaques You can have your name placed on the Rainbow! For only $10.00 we will create a plaque that will be permanently placed in the Land of OZ, showing your interest and support in the Children’s Garden.
