You’re behind Nasarawa crisis, NSHA tells Gov. Tanko By: DANIEL GBABO, Lafia 09.02.2014 The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, yesterday, accused Governor Tanko Al-Makura of planning, hatching and incubating unabated crisis in the state. The House also said it would not attend the security summit billed to hold in Lafia, designed to find lasting peace to communal crisis rocking some parts of the state. The lawmakers, who made their position known at a press briefing shortly after their plenary at the Assembly Complex, maintained that if only the governor had implemented their resolutions, the crisis would have been nipped in the bud. House Committee Chairman on Information, Security and Special Duties, Baba Ibaku, disclosed that members of the House of Assembly have decided not to take part in Al-Makura’s peace and security meeting because the governor had refused to honour the House resolutions on security issues in the state. According to him, the governor had told members of the House of Assembly to concentrate on the business of lawmaking and stay away from security issues because security is not the business of the members. “The House resolved categorically that we are not going to attend that meeting. The governor planned, incubated and hatched crises. You cannot impregnate a woman and deny the child. Let’s him face it,” he said. Ibaku averred that rather than attend Al-Makura’s peace and security meeting, they could go to their constituency to preach peace. He blamed the crisis on non-implementation of the Anti-Thuggery Law passed by the House, stating that the governor stubbornly refused to give assent to the passed bill, which, according to him, could have prevented unnecessary crisis in the state. He accused the governor of appointing two Fulani into government, querying the significance of preferring Fulani to indigenes for government positions He also berated the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for allegedly restricting himself to the Government House since his assumption of office in the state, accusing Idris of never paying a familiarisation visit to the House. He added that Idris always ignored security meetings initiated by lawmakers, including those on council elections. Share with your friends....
