You’ve just witnessed in a snapshot of the greatest boot camp - TopicsExpress

You’ve just witnessed in a snapshot of the greatest boot camp yet! 2.5 hours of heart pumping madness. You can almost taste the adrenaline as the over 40 participants ready themselves for the thrill ride! For starters, Julie warms up the crowd with some light cardio. Next, fasten your seatbelts as eight instructors drive you through a series of 4/25 minute stations, each with a 3 minute transition. All kidding aside, UKB is a gym that stresses safety and form above all else. Because this was such a grueling routine, water breaks and snacks were provided and encouraged. Further more, each exercise was shadowed by our instructors to not only motivate and challenge, but also to supervise that everyone was executing the moves safely. Julie’s station (3) mirrors her 50/50 class in which she melds cardio and strengthening moves into one total body blasting class. She packed her session with weighted ball sit ups, ankle bands on and off the bag, squats, lunges with weights, and some traditional kickboxing on the bag with gloves. She definitely covered all the bases. Moving into the back of the studio, to station (4), Wendy focused her keen eye for form and power on a serious bag routine. As Wendy called out the moves in short timed intervals maximizing heart rates and maintaining strength, each participant was called out to drive in every punch and kick with full force. Exit the studio if you dare as you are now entering the domain of Monique, Stephanie, Jolina, Tom, Ian, and Michael. At station (1) Monique and Stephanie created a smorgasbord of exercises gleaned from their Power Generation and Ropes Class as well as some kettle bell moves. Try strapping on a 100 lb chain and sprinting for starters. Next you’ll be holding a full plank while laterally transferring a kettle bell into a 5 gallon bucket. Tasmanian devils anyone? In other words, you’ll be extending your arms and using your lats while undulating a beach towel and simultaneously zig zagging through a series of cones. Whew, if you need a break move on over to the wall where you can again take it down to the ground, feet on the wall and try to alternate bringing your elbow to your knee. You’re not done yet; don’t forget your tsunami rope power generation move and your double underhand velocity rope moves. A special thanks to our time keeper Jolina, she kept us all on track. “Tired” yet? Its time for Tom and Ian at station (2). This is where the rubber meets the road literally! You’ll be pulling a 110 lb tire backwards using your core, glutes, quads, and arms with Michael right there motivating every step. Try flipping a 185 lb tire, box jumping a 21” tractor tire, toe tapping, and using an 8-10 lb sledge hammer on the tires as well. All done to the melodious sounds of Tom, Ian, and Michael driving you to your limits! As the bell sounds, a resounding, “that’s it, you did it,” is exclaimed from Monique, it’s with exuberance and exhaustion, the good kind; everyone reconvenes for the cool-down. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts to ALL who came, saw, and conquered, BOOTCAMP 2013!!!!!!!!!
